Occupational therapy (OT) supports children in building skills needed for independence, confidence, and participation in everyday life. Woven Care's occupational therapists in Pueblo work with children on:
Pediatric OT at Woven Care in Pueblo is available for children with a wide range of diagnoses and developmental needs, including autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and sensory processing differences. OT is not limited to children with a specific diagnosis, it is available to any child who needs support in building everyday skills.
Woven Care's occupational therapists use play as a primary tool for learning, following each child's lead to keep sessions engaging and meaningful. By embedding therapeutic goals into games and everyday activities, children build skills in a way that feels natural, enjoyable, and motivating.
Sensory processing plays a key role in how children learn, regulate, and engage in daily life. Woven Care's OT team specializes in evaluating sensory processing differences, helping children better understand their bodies and respond to the world around them. We provide individualized strategies and practical tools to support regulation, reduce overwhelm, and help children participate more confidently at home, at school, and in the community.
Every program begins with a thorough evaluation that includes a caregiver interview and assessment of motor, sensory, and functional skills. From there, the therapist develops an individualized treatment plan around each child's strengths, needs, and family goals. Progress is tracked closely, with ongoing adjustments made as the child grows or goals change.
Families and caregivers are active partners throughout the OT process. Woven Care's therapists explain what they are working on and why, share progress clearly, and provide practical strategies that families can use at home to support carryover between sessions.
When a child is also receiving applied behavior analysis (ABA), speech therapy, or physical therapy, Woven Care's occupational therapists coordinate directly with those teams. One care plan, one team, and one location — so skills are reinforced across every therapy and nothing falls through the cracks.

Pediatric OT helps children build the skills they need to participate in everyday activities—things like getting dressed, writing, playing with peers, managing their emotions, and navigating sensory experiences. Occupational therapists use play-based, individualized approaches to support children’s independence and development.
Signs that a child may benefit from OT include missing developmental milestones, difficulty with handwriting or fine motor tasks, challenges with dressing or self-care routines, sensory sensitivities that interfere with daily life, difficulty focusing or regulating emotions, limited food or clothing tolerance, or trouble interacting with peers. A clinical evaluation is the best way to determine whether OT is appropriate.
Occupational therapy at Woven Care is delivered by licensed occupational therapists (OTRs) and certified occupational therapy assistants (COTAs). OTRs hold master’s or doctoral degrees, conduct evaluations, design treatment plans, and supervise the care team. COTAs provide direct therapy sessions under the close supervision of an OTR.
Sensory processing refers to how the brain receives and responds to information from the senses — touch, sound, movement, taste, and more. Some children experience sensory differences that make everyday activities feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate. Occupational therapists help children understand their sensory needs, build coping strategies, and participate more fully in daily life.
Yes. Occupational therapy can support children with ADHD by building executive function skills like planning, attention, and task completion, developing self-regulation strategies, and improving participation in school and daily routines.
Yes. OT is commonly recommended for autistic children and can be highly effective for building self-regulation skills, supporting sensory processing needs, developing fine motor and daily living skills, and improving social and play participation. At Woven Care, occupational therapy is often coordinated with ABA and other therapies as part of an integrated care plan.
Yes. We accept Medicaid (Health First Colorado) for occupational therapy. Our care coordination team is happy to answer questions about your specific coverage.
Yes. We accept TRICARE and are proud to support military families throughout Colorado and Utah. Contact our care coordination team at any of our clinics with questions about your TRICARE coverage.
A referral is required to begin services. Referrals can typically be obtained from a child's pediatrician, often without a separate appointment. Woven Care's team will help coordinate the process.
The length of an OT program varies based on each child’s needs, goals, and progress. Woven Care’s therapists provide ongoing guidance about progress throughout the program and will discuss next steps—including when a child is ready to transition out of services.
